About Sharon

Sharon has been practising Yoga since 2000 and teaching since 2004. She is based in Matlock, Derbyshire and teaches regular weekly classes in the area, as well as weekend workshops.

Sharon is passionate about her own yoga practice and loves to share her enthusiasm with her students, whether complete beginners or experienced yogis. She strongly believes that yoga is for everyone, not just those who are already fit and supple. She takes great care to find out about injuries, illnesses or any physical limitations of each of her students to ensure that yoga postures are adapted to suit the individual’s needs and ability.

What is Yoga?

What most people mean when they talk about “yoga” is actually Hatha Yoga. This is the type of yoga that is most widely practised in the West, and employs a combination of physical postures (called asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), cleansing processes and awareness of the body and mind to prepare for contemplation and meditation.
