Sharon has been practising Yoga since 2000 and teaching since 2004. She is based in Matlock, Derbyshire and teaches regular weekly classes in the area, as well as weekend workshops.
Sharon is passionate about her own yoga practice and loves to share her enthusiasm with her students, whether complete beginners or experienced yogis. She strongly believes that yoga is for everyone, not just those who are already fit and supple. She takes great care to find out about injuries, illnesses or any physical limitations of each of her students to ensure that yoga postures are adapted to suit the individual’s needs and ability.
Sharon teaches a range of weekly yoga classes, weekend workshops and retreats, either residential weekends in the UK or week-long retreats. These very successful events have been held in Turkey, Morocco and Italy, and future events are planned for Spain.
Sharon is a fully qualified teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and a Yoga Alliance Senior Tutor. She continues to study and expand her understanding and knowledge of yoga by completing specialist training courses such as: BWY Children’s Module, BWY Pranayama module and the BWY Philosophy module.
Sharon has taught the BWY Foundation Course Levels I and II, and teaches a Yoga Alliance accredited 200-hour Teacher Training Course with her fellow yogi friend Wendy Snongjati.
Sharon’s teachings cover all aspects of yoga. Her instruction is clear with a strong emphasis on safe technique whilst at the same time encouraging her students to explore their own yoga experience. She has a wealth of knowledge from which her students constantly draw. Her natural light-hearted personality brings a tremendous positivity to her classes. Workshops with Sharon are a real delight to attend.
Sharon teaches all ages with a rare combination of down-to-earth humour, intelligence and serenity. Her warmth and poise are inspiring, and encouraging. She has the ability to open doors to other areas of yoga practice you hadn’t considered were right for you, and to coax her students through them.
Sharon is able to cater for a wide range of experience and ability in the same class. She knows her students and their abilities, and invariably offers variations to include everyone.
Sharon plans clear structures to courses and individual lessons, and is particular about sharing these with pupils.
